Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) is facing a difficult decision in EastEnders at the moment, as she considers leaving Walford to raise baby Kayden away from the Square.
The character has been raising the infant for some months now ever since Sharon (Letitia Dean) gave him to her, revealing she no longer felt capable of looking after her son in the wake of Denny (Bleu Landau)’s death.
And with Ian (Adam Woodyatt) having offered to support Karen financially if she and Kayden leave – in a desperate bid to make Sharon’s life easier – she’s facing a dilemma, as it would mean leaving the rest of her family behind.
The storyline is set to unfold over the next week – but could we be about to bid farewell to Karen?
Is Karen Taylor leaving EastEnders?
As it stands, there has been no announcement suggesting that Lorraine Stanley plans to leave the soap.
However, the character is currently planning to leave Albert Square and take Kayden with her – having agreed to Ian’s suggestion in spite of initially being hesitant.
‘Obviously as a mother she doesn’t want to leave her children but she feels that she’s doing the right thing for Kayden, she couldn’t bare him to go into care so it’s her only option,’ the actress has explained.
‘I think she’s really bonded with him, being that age as well, she has really strong feeling for her little grandson.’
In forthcoming episodes her decision is set to be further complicated by Sharon’s return, as she shows signs she is bonding with her baby after all.

Next week sees Sharon left in charge of little Kayden after she drops off some items with Karen, who asks her to watch him – only for her to return and find Sharon asleep with the baby.
She tells her that it’s never too late to change her mind about raising her son – but with Karen due to leave, could that change things?
