Longtime Voice coach Adam Levine has had a rocky Season 15. Though the Maroon 5 crooner has been a staple on The Voice since it first premiered back in 2011, it looks like the rocker’s time on the beloved reality competition singing series might be coming to an end. In the past 14 seasons on the show, Levine has won the competition three times. However, this is the second season in a row that none of his artists have even made it to the Top 4.
Stuck on the sidelines yet again, while the other coaches –Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, and Blake Shelton are still heavily invested in their artists, it looks like Levine is completely fed up with the competition. After some scandalous behavior the week before the Season 15 finale, could Levine finally be done with The Voice?

Adam Levine threw his own artist under the bus
It’s no secret that Adam Levine is super competitive. However, he took things to a new and shocking level leading up to The Voice Season 15 finale. During Top 8, one of Levine’s artists, Reagan Strange was unable to compete because she was ill. However, instead of doing the right thing as a mentor, Levine chose to throw one of his other artist, DeAndre Nico under the bus. He asked that viewers save Strange who was unable to compete instead of Nico. To say that fans were horrified was an understatement.
Levine’s antics didn’t even pan out. Strange might have been saved during Top 8, but she was swiftly booted off before Top 4, when Jennifer Hudson‘s artist, Kennedy Holmes sang her under the table during Instant Save.
An old rivalry with Blake Shelton
Levine’s urge to win seems to be tied not just to his desire to help his artists, but also because of the serious rivalry he was with Black Shelton. Shelton is the only judge to be on every single season like Levine, and he has won six seasons, double what Levine has. Shelton most recently won in Season 13 when his artist, Chloe Kohanksi beat out Levine’s artist, Addison Agen. Agen was also Maroon 5 frontman’s last artist to even make it the Top 4.
Now, Shelton has two artists in the Top 4 –Kirk Jay and Chris Kroeze while Levine has none. In fact, a Levine artist has not won The Voice since Jordan Smith in Season 9. Levine previously said of his arch-rival, “Blake has had his time in the sun.”

So will Levine be back for Season 16?
If this season of The Voice has been any indication, Levine is out for blood, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to stop until he’s won another season of the series. If one of Shelton’s artists win Season 15, we’re confident Levine will be more determined then ever to take down his rival.
It’s also clear that Levine adores The Voice. He spoke with Entertainment Tonight about being a mentor and a coach saying, “I think The Voice was one of the first times that I had a platform where I could help people out or play a role [as] a mentor. So, it did help me, indirectly, in what inevitably became being a parent, for sure.”
