Inside No.9 Live goes all meta and freaks everyone out: "That is how you do a live TV episode for the Twitter generation"

Inside No.9 Live was a complete success, freaking viewers out with a very creative special episode.

A few minutes into the episode, it seemed to be running into sound issues and after a few attempts at fixing it, a BBC apology card appeared and it was announced that a pre-recorded episode would be on in its place.

However, just as everyone was taking to Twitter to complain, it was revealed to all be part of the show, which was pretty impressive.

It started with an old Nokia mobile phone in a graveyard (as you do), then it snowballed to Most Haunted with creepy sound stages, backstage ghosts, murders and an appearance from The One Show.

It was seriously terrifying throughout thanks mostly to all the meta details, with the creators joining in on social media.

Co-creator Reece Shearsmith posted a tweet while on TV that not only freaked everyone out, but won the attention of Twitter.

Viewers thought the episode was completely genius and every other TV show should pretty much give up hope of beating it.

One viewer tweeted: “That is how you do a live TV episode for the twitter generation. Bravo.”

Another wrote: “Only Reece and Steve could have pulled that off. Incredibly meta. Knowing what perfectionists they are, I should have guessed. But that’s the beauty of their work, you never can.”

And another viewer added: “This wins everything on TV this year. Amazing amazing amazing amazing.”

Inside No.9 Live aired on BBC Two.
