I’m A Celebrity fans refuse to watch ‘disturbing’ trial

Ant and Dec witness 'most disgusting' moment ever on I'm a Celeb

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! spin-off has seen a selected group of former contestants return to the show in a new setting.

While the classic show always sees grim moments where celebrities have to eat and drink horrible things to win stars and meals for camp, the latest trial was too much for even the most loyal fans.

EastEnders stars Joe Swash and Dean Gaffney took part in a drinking challenge on Wednesday’s I’m A Celebrity, but several ITV viewers couldn’t cope with the “disgusting” scenes.

The two men gagged, retched and spat as they downed a selection of jungle drinks, including blended cow vagina and blended maggots.

The duo both threw up after a few drinks, and it didn’t make pleasant watching for fans tuned in.

Host Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly even found the trial particularly hard to watch.

At one point, Ant branded the challenge: “Possibly the most disgusting piece of television I’ve ever been a part of.”

However, the Geordie pair also found the men’s reactions hilarious as they laughed at Dean and Joe struggling with the drinks.

Each drink completed secured a special treat for one of the campmates, so the newcomers to the camp were under a lot of pressure.

However, with each drink causing the actors to audibly gag and bring up some of the concoctions’ contents, fans felt the trial went too far and took to social media to vent about the “disturbing” scenes.

Twitter user @TTimminsx asked: “#imaceleb who got or felt sick while watching the two guys drinking those disturbing animal drinks like the lambs brain and lungs for example? They should have warned us about that being disturbing and disgusting ugh.” (sic)

@ThomasF24943789 added: “That drinking trial was probably the best but most disgusting trial i’ve ever seen. Well done Joe Swash and @deangaffney1 for braving through that trial. #ImACeleb #ImACelebSouthAfrica.”

“Well that enough of watching people’s gag reflex for me. That’s just grim. #ImACeleb,” @droftes penned. (sic)

@sue_simmonds simply remarked: “Switching off #ImACeleb,” while @Ali_Jaxx shared: “Literally fast forwarded the first 18 minutes of #ImACeleb so I didn’t have to watch two grown men be sick.”

@Crazier asked: “#ImACeleb Is that vomiting bit over now? I can’t watch…”

I’m A Celebrity… South Africa continues on Thursday at 9pm on ITV.
