I’m A Celeb stars ‘smell crew’s dinner’ as cast forced to live on 500 calories

ITV I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Linda Robson has opened up about her time in camp 11 years ago.

The 65-year-old actress joined the cast of the gruelling ITV reality show in 2012 alongside the likes of Coronation Street beauty Helen Flanagan, Eastenders legend Charlie Brooks and Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts.

Linda lasted 13 days in camp and watching the latest batch of famous faces taking on Bushtucker Trials in the Australian jungle is bringing back memories to the Loose Women star.

Speaking to Daily Star, Linda said: "You remember the smells and the noises. The crew were all hidden behind these different panels around the jungle and could sometimes smell if someone was having an Indian that night or having a Chinese another night because you are so hungry.

"I've spent most of my life on one diet or another so for me, I only ever ate the rice and beans. I was going to have a sausage one night and they told me it was Opossum but then this rat-looking thing ran past me and I went 'What's that?' and they went Opossum, so I said 'I'm not eating that'.

"I looked gorgeous when I was coming out because it's like a detox and having only 500 calories a day. I lost about two stone in there and the first thing I asked for when I got out was a bacon sandwich."

Opening up about she struggled with the most, Linda explained: "The days are really long because your up early and when you first get there you're jet-lagged as well. You can't wait to make sure your family are alright really. We occupied ourselves by sharing stories, singing and talking about all the things we've done over our career. The year I went in, my mum had died that year so I thought it was quite a good time to get away."

Linda recently returned to the Loose Women panel after taking a break from the ITV daytime show but fans could see her back in the jungle in the near future. ITV aired an all-stars version of I'm A Celebrity in South Africa earlier this year featuring previous campmates. Hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly have admitted they'd like to do it again and Linda is up for putting her boots back on.

She said: "I would go back, I really enjoyed it. For my kids, it's one of their favourite things ever because they got to stay in the Versace Hotel for about 10 days when I was in the jungle. They loved it and ran up a nice bill for me when I came out. They did get an allowance everyday but luckily there was a McDonald's next door to the Versace."
