How Much Time Does Donald Trump Spend Watching TV? – The Cheat Sheet

It’s no secret that Donald Trump isn’t much of a reader. The former reality personality tends to stick to the medium he knows best–T.V. But he’s disputed this well-known fact, insisting he’s busy “reading documents,” The Hill reports. “Believe it or not, even when I’m in Washington or New York, I do not watch much television,” Trump said. “People that don’t know me, they like to say I watch television — people with fake sources. You know, fake reporters, fake sources.”

So no Bachelor in Paradise or even The Price is Right? Although Trump won’t own up to what he’s really watching (The Real Housewives of New York City), he has told a few media outlets what he’s watching and how much time he actually spends in front of the tube.

This is television Trump prefers

Since Trump is a man who demands the grandiose, it is no surprise he prefers a decent sized television set. According to Time, Trump insisted on a 60-inch flat screen television be installed in the White House. The most curious aspect of this is that he did not want the television installed in a living area or even the bedroom. No. Instead, the set sits in his private dining room. So much for sparkling dinner conversation.

Does Melania get to control the remote?

Control over the remote is a big deal for most families. So it is no wonder that remote control comes down to mainly just Trump himself, according to The Hill. Sorry, Melania. Otherwise, White House technical support staff members may use the remote, likely to make sure his DVR is in proper working order and reception is crystal clear.

What programs does Trump prefer?

Trump entertains himself with a variety of news and entertainment programming, including some classic films. Some choices are obvious like Fox & Friends, Hannity and he used to watch the O’Reilly Factor (when it was on). But he is also known to watch The Today Show, Morning Joe, CNN Tonight with Don Lemon and Anderson Cooper 360. He watches the majority of these shows to get his blood boiling.

Even though the show angers him, he watches Saturday Night Live. Trump also prefers the classic, black and white films like Gone with the Wind and Citizen Kane.

While he balks at the notion that he’s sitting in front of T.V., he spends about four hours a day glued to his set, The Hill reports. He typically begins his day of T.V. watching around 5:30 a.m. with CNN. He moves onto Fox & Friends and then uses Morning Joe to get pumped and angry for the day.

And although he asserts he’s not a big T.V. watcher, The Hill points out he usually tweets about a new segment within seconds after they air live. Sounds like a case of “The lady doth protest too much.”
