‘House of Cards’ Final Season: See Robin Wright as U.S. President in New Teaser

Robin Wright’s Claire Underwood assumes the presidency in the thrilling new trailer for the sixth and final season of House of Cards.

The clip is packed with plenty political duplicity and backstabbing as Claire adjusts to the rigors of the office while paving a path that significantly diverges from that of her late husband, Frank Underwood (formerly played by Kevin Spacey). During a speech Claire tells a crowd not to believe a word Frank ever said, while moments later she tells a man, “The reign of the middle-aged white man is over.”

But despite her newfound power, Claire finds herself besieged by her own far-from-pristine past, as old foes – like Underwood fixer Doug Stamper – return and new ones plot her removal from office. The increasingly tense trailer culminates with a shot of Claire riding in a limousine when an unknown object slams against the window, spidering the glass.

House of Cards returns to Netflix November 2nd. The sixth season’s cast will also feature newcomers Greg Kinnear and Diane Lane. Spacey was effectively removed from the show last year after being accused of sexual misconduct.
