Hollyoaks star pays tribute to stillborn child on her birthday

Hollyoaks star Kirsty-Leigh Porter has paid tribute to stillborn daughter Penny-Leigh.

The actress, who portrays Leela Lomax in the Channel 4 soap, shared pictures of a party she threw to mark Penny-Leigh’s third birthday, telling fans that the pain ‘doesn’t get any easier.’

‘Happy 3rd Birthday my Angel Penny-Leigh,’ she wrote on Instagram. ‘It really doesn’t get any easier. I tried to smile today but the pain is just as raw as it was the day you were born.

‘We miss you so much.

‘Thank you for always looking down on us and for always looking after your little sister.

‘We love you PLB. Sleep tight baby girl.’

Kirsty-Leigh’s colleagues shared their support, with Ruby O’Donnell – who portrays on-screen daughter Peri Lomax – writing: ‘Love you Kirst.’

Diane Hutchinson star Alex Fletcher, meanwhile, added: ‘Happy birthday Penny-Leigh. lots of love to you all kirst xxx.’

Harvey Virdi, who plays Misbah Maalik, added three red heart emojis.

Penny-Leigh was stillborn in December 2018 at 29 weeks.

Kirsty made an explosive return to Hollyoaks as Leela earlier this year, as she rocked up in the village to confront Trish Minniver (Denise Welch), who had been extremely rude to Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson).

The character has been involved in numerous storylines since, including losing her job, going into business with her brother, and helping Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) deal with her problems.
