Hollyoaks signs up Chesney Hawkes as Nancy and Darren tie the knot again

Chesney Hawkes is set to make a special appearance in Hollyoaks as power couple Nancy and Darren Osborne (Jessica Fox and Ashley Taylor Dawson) tie the knot for a third time.

The One and Only hitmaker, who shot to fame in the 90s, will serenade the bride and groom with his iconic track, in a special moment arranged by Darren’s best mate Luke Morgan (Gary Lucy).

‘We wanted to do something special to mark their big day after everything they’ve been through,’ producer Kieron O’Sullivan said.

Nancy and Darren, as longtime viewers might recall, first got wed in 2012, and their very first dance was to The One and Only.

Kieron said that producers were keen to have Chesney, 50, sing the track live this time around.

‘Sadly I wasn’t on set on the day but from what I’ve heard everyone had the best time and were all singing and dancing along,’ he told The Sun.

‘It’s a touching gesture,’ he added, of Luke’s hand in arranging the performance, telling the publication that the episode in question is ‘not to be missed.’

We can hardly wait!

Chesney, 50, topped the charts with The One and Only back in 1991, after it appeared in the film Buddy’s Song.

The track stayed at No.1 for five weeks, and reached the top 10 in the US. It also featured in Emmerdale two years ago, as Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) showed off his impressive vocal chords during choir practice.

Nancy and Darren, meanwhile, reunited in June last year.

The couple went on a date, and suggested that they go back to the very beginning in a bid to forget what they’ve been through over the past few years.

The Channel 4 soap then offered fans the chance to relive snippets from the December 20, 2010 edition of the serial drama. Or, as Hollyoaks fans like to remember it, the night that Dancy was born.

Back in the present, Nancy and Darren did their best to recreate the evening in question, as they headed for a meal in The Dog, all dressed up to the nines and looking at one another longingly.
