Holly Willoughby reveals she walked down the aisle to a Disney song and named her daughter after Beauty And The Beast character as she defends Disney in 'sexism' row

The 37-year-old tied the knot with Dan Baldwin back in 2007 and believes it is “insulting” to suggest that women can’t differentiate between fact and fiction.

During a heated debate with panto fave Linda Lusardi and Liv Lorent, who has created a revamped version of Rumpelstiltskin, she admitted: “I called my daughter Belle after one of the princesses, I walked down the aisle to a song from Disney.

“For me that was my childhood and I have grown up pretty empowered, pretty independent.”

She continued: “I think in a way is it not insulting to suggest a woman as she grows older can’t differentiate between fact and fiction or that that prince might not be a prince that has come out of a castle but to you individually the man you marry and fall in love with has prince like qualities because he is the one for you?”

Phillip Schofield added: “I’ve got two daughters and they loved reading those fairytales when they were younger. They have grown up to be strong, independent women.

“They weren’t affected by anything they read there, it was fantasy.”

After hearing about Liv’s updated version of Rumpelstiltskin, an outraged Phillip hit back: “But you’re messing with tradition. You’re fiddling about with that.

"When are you going to stop? Are you going to think, “actually you know what I’m not sure we like Bronte and the relationship between men and women because that was very much of a time then.

“I’m not sure we’re happy with Jane Austen and her relationship with men and women and who was the strongest, who was the weakest so let’s go back and erase all our literary history.”’

The debate was sparked after actress Kiera Knightley revealed she has banned her daughter from watching certain Disney films.

The actress, 33, said three-year-old Edie isn't allowed to watch "sexist" classic Cinderella (which dates back to 1950) or The Little Mermaid (1989), but some modern movies are allowed.

Speaking on The Ellen Show yesterday, Keira said: "Cinderella – banned because she waits around for the rich guy to rescue her. Don't. Rescue yourself, obviously.

"This is the one I'm quite annoyed about because I love The Little Mermaid and the songs are great, but do not give your voice up for a man.

"That one's a little tricky, but I'm keeping to it."
