This Morning host Holly Willoughby had some sweet advice for a viewer of the show, who rang in because she was struggling with a break-up.
Alice, the name she went by, called in as part of Thursday’s phone-in with the topic being all about moving on from a partner.
Having spoken to Paul Hollywood’s estranged wife Alex earlier on in the episode, Holly and co-host Phillip Schofield joined presenter Vanessa Feltz who was ready to give out advice on different scenarios.
Alice told the trio about the end of her four-year relationship with her ex last year, with him since having moved on.
The viewer revealed their romance was long-distance, and that sometimes she questioned it because he could be “arrogant” and outspoken.
She was worried about introducing him to her friends and loved ones because of the way he was, with Holly revealing this was a sign he wasn’t the one for her.
Alice then shared her upset after he invited her around for Christmas Day because she was alone, with them having comforted each other since they broke up.
But Alice was in for a shock when she arrived and went to hug him, still close with the guy, when he recoiled and told her he now had a girlfriend.
Since then, the viewer has struggled to get over the split and the fact that he has moved on while she hasn’t.
As Vanessa shared her opinion on the matter, Alice wondered whether she had “made a mistake” causing Holly to chime in.
The host told her: “Don’t do it. Your gut… that moment of not wanting to introduce him to people was you saying there was something you’re not happy with.
“You’re never gonna change that so this is it. A clean slate, a clean slate.”
Phillip then questioned whether she could still be in love with her ex, to which Holly added: “I think in love with the idea of him.”
