Holly Willoughby pokes fun at Gino D’Acampo’s return after his This Morning comment

Holly Willoughby has shared a cheeky jibe at her co-star and fan-favourite Italian chef Gino D'Acampo as he made a hilarious return to This Morning on Tuesday, June 20.

The duo have a history of teasing each other in the This Morning kitchen, especially as Gino rarely holds back on making innuendo-laced comments on the live daytime TV show.

But during his return this week, the mischievous chef made a subtle dig at Phillip Schofield's departure from the programme last month, which was dogged with controversy when Phillip admitted to previously having an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a much younger male colleague.

Holly, 42, posted a clip of Gino, 46, cooking for her and Dermot O'Leary, 50, and didn't mince her words as she poked fun at the programme contributor.

"He's back…" the presenter wrote, alongside an embarrassed emoji, laughter emoji, and one of a face breathing out air, and then tagged the celebrity chef underneath.

While This Morning's own Instagram penned on the video: "Gino definitely put Holly and Dermot through their paces during cookery today! We still don’t know if it’s flat or flap! #GinoDAcampo #HollyWilloughby #DermotOLeary."

Arriving in the studio bursting with energy earlier this week, Gino said hello to Holly and Dermot as he declared: "Everything is under control. I'm back!"

He then naughtily asked the hosts if there was "any news from the last month" that he should know.

"No. No news," Holly insisted quickly, but both she and Dermot tried not to laugh in response.

As the studio fell into silence, Gino then addressed the elephant in the room as he pressed the presenters to explain the awkwardness.

"Why is nobody talking anymore, what's happened?" he demanded, but Dermot finally took charge.

Looking down the camera, the TV presenter joked: "We need to rephrase, Gino is back for a one-time only…"

Fans could barely contain themselves however, as viewers flocked to Twitter over the incident.

"Gino never disappoints, causing Dermot and Holly to squirm a bit making light of the Phil saga", one person commented.

Another fan observed: "Studio fell silent when Gino said 'any news while i've been gone' #itvthismorning".

"Absolutely pmsl at @Ginofantastico on #Thismorning any news???? #Gino," a third person giggled.
