Highest-paid TV host revealed – and they're pulling in £115 million a year

It’s official, Judge Judy host Judy Sheindlin is the highest-paid TV host, earning $147 million (£115 million) last year.

Via Forbes, Judge Judy takes the top spot, followed by Ellen DeGeneres, Dr Phil McGraw, Ryan Seacrest and Steve Harvey.

Here’s what they all earned in 2017:

5. Steve Harvey – $44,000,000

4. Ryan Seacrest – $74,000,000

3. Dr. Phil McGraw – $77,500,000

2. Ellen DeGeneres – $87,500,000

1. Judy Sheindlin – $147,000,000

(All earnings estimates are from June 1, 2017 to June 1, 2018.)

Last year, Sheindlin sold the rights to Judge Judy’s 5,200-episode library, as well as future episodes, to CBS for an estimated $100 million.

This will explain why she’s now numero uno (Judy was #4 in Forbes‘ report last year), as her annual salary for Judge Judy is estimated at $47 million a year.

In 2017, Dr Phil McGraw earned the most, at $79 million between June 1, 2016 and June 1, 2017, while Ellen was in second place with $77 million and American Idol and Live with Kelly and Ryan host Seacrest was in third with $58 million.

Judge Judy averages more than 10 million daily viewers in its 23rd season, while Dr. Phil attracts nearly 4 million viewers.

Meanwhile, Seacrest’s earnings increased from $58 million to $74 million this year, and DeGeneres’ income also went up by about $10 million.
