Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 delay might affect Avengers 4's plot, according to Dave Bautista

All is not well in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 camp. James Gunn was fired by Disney in July over controversial tweets from his past, and the latest news is that the movie is on hold indefinitely.

Dave Bautista – who plays Marvel’s Drax – has been outspoken about his unhappiness with how the situation has been handled. And speaking to Digital Spy about his latest movie Final Score, he revealed that the Guardians drama could even affect the plot of next year’s Avengers 4.

“It’s kind of a strange situation to be in now where we’ve lost our director for Guardians,” said Bautista. “Guardians 3 is really up in the air and I don’t know what they’re going to do with it.

“It’s on permanent hold for now, and that may make a difference in what they do with our characters in Avengers 4. To be honest with you, right now I really don’t know.

“But I know I’m in Avengers 4. I’ve shot most of it already. I do have two days of reshoots. But other than that, I have some really great scenes that I hope they use. But I guess that it remains to be seen what they’ll do with the characters.”

There was a lot of secrecy surrounding the shooting of Avengers: Infinity War, to the point that many of the cast didn’t know the full plot until it was released.

With more reshoots in the work for Avengers 4 (which filmed back-to-back with Infinity War), there is definitely the opportunity for Marvel Studios to rework the plot of the movie, although as Bautista says, it’s impossible to say one way or another at the moment.

Bautista will next be seen in Final Score, which casts him as a former soldier fighting to protect his niece in a football stadium that has been taken over by terrorists.

Final Score will be released on September 7 in the UK and September 14 in the US.
