Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) will be part of the “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 15 “Season of Love” after all.
As showrunner Krista Vernoff put it to TVLine:
“The question this season, is not ‘Will Meredith Grey find love again,’ but ‘With whom will she find love?'”
We know Mer has a hookup with DeLuca in the two-hour Season 15 premiere, but he’s reportedly not The One. Will it be Chris Carmack’s new “ortho god”? Or even Greg Germann’s Dr. Thomas Koracick? Can’t Scott Speedman just return as Nick Marsh?
“I can’t tease who she will end up with,” Vernoff told TVLine, “but I can say that it is going to be a joyful, funny, complicated journey to get there.”
Vernoff said Meredith will hit the dating scene this year, “and it’s something that somehow we’ve never really seen in 15 seasons of this show!”

Yeah, after Derek died (RIP, McDreamy) she started seeing Riggs, but that just sort of happened. This is her first time putting herself out there as available and “looking.” And a lot has changed in her life since she started hooking up with Derek in Season 1.
“Life changes everybody,” Vernoff told TVLine. “But one thing that I’ve noticed is consistent in my family and friends is, no matter how old they are, romance can take you by surprise and sweep you up. My stepdad is in his 70s, and after he reconnected with an old flame a couple of years ago, he sat in my living room texting like he was a teenage girl.”
We always want the best for Meredith, but we were also down with what ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey had told TVLine about Meredith having a new trajectory in Season 15 more focused on who she is as a single mother and surgeon.
Dungey even teased an “emotional” investigation “into a medical condition that is very close to her own family background and history.” (We know her father is returning this season, so…) Dungey said that was in part because star Ellen Pompeo “has spoken very loudly about how she doesn’t want all of Meredith’s adventures to be romantic ones.”
But humans are multi-faceted, and it sounds like Season 15 may achieve that desired balance — showing Mer as a single mother, surgeon, *and* woman looking for love. If anyone can have it all, it’s Meredith Grey.
“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 15 has a two-hour back-to-back episode premiere starting Thursday, Sept.27 at 8 p.m. on ABC.Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook.
