There was a time when Gotham fans were convinced Erin Richards’ Barbara Kean would become the series’ version of Harley Quinn, but brand new images from season five of Gotham appear to have killed that dream dead in the water.
As filming gets underway for the upcoming run of the hit DC TV series, new photos have emerged of Barbara and a formidable-looking team taking to the streets of Gotham, presumably for that turf war teased at the end of season four.
(Almost) gone are the villain’s previous red and blue hues of season three – and in their place, if anything, is a look that feels a little more like Catwoman than anything else.
And dare we say it, a little like X-Men’s Storm too…
How Barbara Kean’s character will transform in Gotham‘s final season is yet to be revealed, but her journey into a traditional comic book character known and loved by fans is almost inevitable.
Well, it is if Bruce Wayne actor David Mazouz has anything to do with it.
Opening up about his ideas for the show’s conclusion, David admitted he wants to see “everybody, not just Bruce, coming into the characters they’re supposed to be”.
“Nygma as the full-blown Riddler, Oswald as the full-blown Penguin, Selina as the full-blown Catwoman, Gordon as commissioner with a moustache and glasses. And everybody coming into the person that they’re destined to be at the same time,” he said.
We’ll certainly take that.
Gotham airs on FOX in the US and E4 in the UK, where seasons 1-3 are also available on demand via Netflix.
