Piers and co-host Susannah Reid interviewed journalist Farrah Storr about American plus size model Tess Holliday's cover shoot in their October issue.
Piers, 53, kicked off the show by holding the magazine and warning people at home about rising obesity.
He stormed into a furious rant and told them: "This country is getting fatter and fatter and fatter … It's not right to encourage people to feel inspired by very very fat people, or skinny skinny rakes."
Later, Shameless star Tina Malone joined in on the debate and said she reluctantly agrees with Piers.
She said: "If you look at the picture you can see her knees are buckling. She has two young children, she is representing an image that is not right … I suffered for 18 years as a big fat ugly person."
Viewers rejoiced over the juicy debate, while some took sides.
One viewer wrote on Twitter: "Welcome back Piers,, I know my wife (Sally)will be pleased to see you back making her mornings more enjoyable lol.. but I do love watching some of your guests squirm as you politely grill them :)"
Another person said: "I love @Cosmopolitan but I kinda agree with Piers this morning… It isn't an aspirational cover, it's a very dangerous weight for a 5 ft 3 model @GMB"
And one loyal fan wrote: "Love to have Piers back rambling and disputing, my mornings are back to normal."
Another person agreed with Piers, and said: "Welcome back Piers!!!! Love you.This morning needs you!"
However, many more agreed with Farrah, who insisted it is refreshing to have a plus size model on the cover.
One wrote: "Watching #GMB and I am honestly dumbfounded at their lack of research into Tess Holliday and her message. She isn't saying "gain loads of weight, be like me" she's saying "If I can love myself why can't you?"
Another added: "@CosmopolitanUK omg @GMB @piersmorgan be ashamed of your self. You hardly let farrah speak.
