Good Morning Britain newsreader falls over and leaves Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway in stitches

Lovers of slapstick were in for a right treat this morning (October 5), as Good Morning Britain spared newsreader Balvinder Sidhu no shame by replaying a recent slip-up to the nation.

Before a bulletin yesterday, ITV Central anchor Bal was caught on camera stacking it in spectacular fashion – something the GMB team were more than happy to share with viewers.

Neither Ben Shephard, Kate Garraway nor Richard Arnold could contain themselves watching Bal lose her shoe – and then her footing – before introducing her this morning, and to be honest, neither can we.

Hey, at least she stayed upright this time round.

Fortunately, Bal appeared to enjoy her trip, telling fans on Twitter that she was “absolutely fine” thanks to a producer who swiftly came to her rescue.

Bones and sense of humour still intact, Bal said: “I found it absolutely hilarious myself, so I’m glad I’m bringing a smile to all your faces this morning.”

Elsewhere on today’s Good Morning Britain, sisters Catherine and Virginia joined the studio to explain their practical reason for wanting a civil partnership.

Following a recent change in the law allowing heterosexual couples to have a civil partnership, Catherine and Virginia argued families should be able to enter one for “legal protection reasons” relating to inheritance tax.

Well, what’s a bowl of cornflakes without controversy?

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
