Channel 4’s popular reality show Gogglebox returned tonight (September 7) for its 12th series, yet unfortunately, not many fans were pleased with the introduction of some new families.
This evening’s episode saw the amusing couch-dwellers watching The X Factor – which returned to our screens last weekend for a brand new series – plus several other programmes including Bodyguard.
One of the new couples featured was Beryl and her scientist husband John, however, their appearance alongside the other newbies didn’t exactly go down well with longstanding fans of Gogglebox.
Uncertainty swept through social media as those watching at home shared their disappointed thoughts online.
“Naaah these new families on Gogglebox just aren’t cutting it for me, they’re no Leon and June,” one person wrote.
Another added: “What’s with all these new faces on #gogglebox it’s unsettling is what it is.”
And a third wrote: “Not liking the new lot at all, and can’t help think that the old couple have been brought in to replace Leon and June… not gonna happen guys.”
Interestingly, Gogglebox creator Tania Alexander was clearly keeping tabs on the Twitter reactions tonight, as she directly replied to one fan’s disgruntled message.
Fan interaction like this is quite refreshing to see, and even better, she might have a point.
Gogglebox will return next Friday (September 14) at 9pm on Channel 4.
