Gillian McKeith says she was forced to wear ‘frumpy’ outfit for Loose Women

Gillian McKeith said she was forced to change her clothes into something "frumpy" before appearing on Loose Women.

The TV personality was set to appear on the show and arrived in the same clothing as her 20-something daughter, before she was handed a navy jumper with some sparkle around the neckline.

She didn’t seem to be too happy about this but she said it was all the fault of Kaye Adams, as she had to dress like her friend in order to appear as her "doppelganger."

She told Kaye: "I’m probably a bit more risqué, you’re more conservative. I like eclectic clothing, clothes that are different.

"I had to change it for this. I looked down [at her jumper] and went, ‘Oh my god…’ I was wearing the same designer as my daughter. I wear British-based designer mainly and I love things that are different.

"There’s nothing wrong with your outfit, it’s just a little bit frumpy that’s all. I mean if I could shorten it that’d be OK!"

Kaye was shocked to be called "frumpy" by the TV star, who had earlier been speaking out about how Kaye had "the perfect poo."

Gillian said: "It was the best poo I’ve ever see. It was perfect, good shape, like a sausage."

She went on to talk about women and fashion, saying: "I don’t think it’s right to determine that after a certain age you’re meant to change your personality or what you wear to suit other people…

"Fashion is an expression of yourself so what’s the number I’m supposed to put? I think I have a lot of young energy, I don’t want to change myself."

Her daughters were also in the audience, with one saying she loves what her mother wears, adding how she finds matching their clothes "adorable."

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
