Gemma Owen and Luca Bish ‘on the rocks’ just weeks after leaving villa and have been on verge of splitting ever since | The Sun

GEMMA Owen and Luca Bish had been struggling to make their romance work just weeks after leaving Love Island, The Sun can reveal.

Gemma, 19, and Luca, 23, left the villa in August and were on the rocks soon after, before announcing they had split on Wednesday.

And the break didn't come as a surprise to their co-stars, who noted that Luca swerved Indiyah Polack’s fashion launch in September many of the Love Island pals were in attendance.

The former fishmonger went to a premiere down the road instead, while dressage rider Gemma was a no show.

A source said: “Pals thought they were on the rocks a few months ago when they didn’t come to a reunion bash.

"It was awkward as Dami and Indiyah had already expressed doubts over Gemma and Luca’s relationship on the outside.

"Most of the cast were there ready to celebrate, but they thought something was up with Gemma and Luca for not coming.”

It comes just three months after they finished as runners-up on Love Island on August 1, 2022.

Gemma said it was a "difficult decision" to end her romance with Luca who she was last pictured with at the start of November 2022.

She announced the break-up news on Instagram, and wrote: "I wanted to let you know that Luca and I are no longer in a relationship. It wasn’t an easy decision but ultimately this is what is best for both of us right now.

Following the news, Luca also took to social media himself to make a statement to the former couple's fans.

Luca said: "Switched my phone back on after taking some time out to clear my head after an emotional afternoon to thousands of messages and news articles about my breakup."

He continued: "I would have liked some time to process this privately but as you all already now know sadly Gemma and I made the mutual decision earlier today to go our separate ways."

The shock split came just two days after Luca told journalists all was well within his relationship as he appeared on the TV Choice Awards red carpet – with Gemma noticeably absent.
