Game of Thrones season 8: What does Daenerys Targaryen really think of Jon Snow secret?

Titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the instalment was set in Winterfell as all the characters prepared for the battle against the White Walkers and the Night King (played by Vladimir Furdik) which could herald the end of days for humans. One of the big moments of episode two came when Jon Snow (Kit Harington) told Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) that they were related through Rhaegar Targaryen (Wilf Scolding). Daenerys was left fuming after she realised Jon had a stronger claim to the Iron Throne because he was a male heir which supersedes females.

Daenerys was very angry about the revelation and even doubted Jon’s claims after he revealed it was his brother Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) who’d seen the vision and Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) who verified it in an ancient book from the Citadel.

“If it were true, it would make you the last male heir of House Targaryen,” she raged at Jon.

Speaking about the pivotal scene, actress Clarke said: “The related thing, to her, is so normal.

“She could have easily married her brother. It’s not a thing. It’s a thing for Jon, but let’s just forget about that.”

Clarke went on to explain to Entertainment Weekly about the line of succession: “The main thing is we’re up for the same promotion and I’ve been working for it for my entire existence.”

She continued: “There’s so much she’s taken on in her duty in life to rectify.

“There’s so much she’s seen and witnessed and been through and lost and suffered and hurt to get here… and Jon doesn’t even want it!”

Due to the arrival of the White Walkers, Jon and Dany’s exchange was cut short as they had a bigger evil to face.

However, Jon’s secret is going to come back to haunt him at some point later on.

WILL THERE BE ANOTHER SERIES OF GAME OF THRONES?

Some have been speculating about whether Dany could end up trying to kill Jon to keep hold of her claim to the throne.

Then again, Jon has already hinted he has no desire to take the Iron Throne – much like he never wanted to be Lord of Winterfell, King in the North or even the Commander of the Night’s Watch until the responsibility was foisted on him.

Next week’s Battle of Winterfell is going to see numerous figures killed off, so it could no longer be a problem if either Jon or Dany gets bumped off.

The Mother of Dragons also has lots of enemies around her since her return to Westeros.

She has won little favour with the Northerners who seek to be free with Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) making clear she doesn’t want the Iron Throne to rule her people.

Sam was also left heartbroken after Dany coldly informed him she’d burned alive his father Randyll Tarly (James Faulkner) and brother Dikon (Tom Hopper), again she won no love from him.

There have been theories Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) could be a turn cloak as well after underestimating his sister Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey).

The Northerners as a whole would rather not see the Dragon Queen rise and any one of those families could also be the one to drive a dagger into her back.

Game of Thrones season 8 airs on HBO in the US on Sundays 9pm ET and on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK on Mondays at 2am & 9pm BST
