Viewers have gradually watched Cersei (played by Lena Headey) go through a rollercoaster journey on Game of Thrones over the past seven seasons, and as series eight returned to HBO and Sky Atlantic, the acting ruler of Westeros seemed colder than ever.
Still toying with psychotic fighter Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbaek), Cersei’s calculated nature led to a devastating decision.
Despite all her morally questionable choices, the queen has also gained favour from her deep love for brother and lover Jaime Lannister (Nicolaj Coster-Waldau) and her children.
Yet when the last of her troubled brood died and later Jaime refused to assist her dastardly plot to betray Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) in the battle against the Night King (Vladimir Furdik) and his White Walkers, things changed.
And last night’s instalment may have proved Cersei has lost any last shred of humanity when she sent her adviser to deliver a message to Bronn (Jerome Flynn).
In what started off as an amusing scene – Bronn was set to engage in a bout of lovemaking with three different women at the same time – it quickly took a turn for the worse when the character learned he was being tasked with murdering all of Cersei’s remaining family members.
With Jaime and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) now fighting on the same side, a panicked Cersei was attempting to tie up her loose ends in a bid to gain ultimate power of the kingdoms.
But while many viewers were convinced Bronn could never go through with the heinous act – he has built up a solid rapport and friendship with the Kingslayer over the seasons – a recent interview with actor Jerome may have revealed the Lannister family’s eventual fate.
Speaking to Insider at the New York City final season premiere red carpet, the actor grinned as he teased fans may change their opinions of the loveable rogue.
”I don’t know, they might not love him as much as they do right now,” he said, referring to the aftermath of the inevitably explosive finale.

The star considered for a second before continuing: “But I hope they still do.
“He is who he is and what he says, isn’t he?”
What’s more, the actor joked Bronn is still intent on receiving the property Jaime promised him the last time they fought together.
“He’ll do what he needs to get his castle,” Jerome declared, before hinting further into his character’s final scenes.
“It wasn’t that stressful or strenuous for me,” he told the publication in regards to the finale. “Yeah, that’s all I’m saying.
“I wasn’t that stressed or strained,” the actor added.
If Bronn goes through with Cersei’s plan, one of the fandom’s major theories will be debunked.
Many have been convinced Jaime will be the one to eventually murder the evil queen, and the pair would go down together in a dramatic tragedy.
But if Bronn succeeds, will Jon or Daenerys be the one to knock the mother-of-four off her pedestal?
Viewers may have also noticed the season credits are largely different to any before. But another theory actually claims there could be clues hinting at characters’ deaths in the final season.
Game of Thrones season eight continues Sundays on HBO and is simulcast on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
