Game of Thrones season 8, episode 6 release time: What time is Game of Thrones released?

The Game of Thrones season eight finale remains untitled at the time of publication with the name expected to be revealed post-broadcast. Episode six has the hefty and unenviable task of trying to wrap up an epic story that’s been running since 2011. Whether the HBO series can provide fans with a satisfying ending remains to be seen given how divisive season eight has proved to be among fans and critics alike. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of time about the last-ever instalment of the television phenomenon that is Game of Thrones.

What time will Game of Thrones season 8, episode 6 be released?

Game of Thrones season eight, episode six will be airing tonight (Sunday, May 19) on HBO in America at 9pm EST.

In the UK, Sky Atlantic and NOW TV will be broadcasting the Game of Thrones season eight finale from Monday, May 20 at 2am BST.

Despite the apparent difference in date, the finale is airing at precisely the same time as part of a Transatlantic simulcast.

The simulcast was brought into effect a number of years ago to cut down on illegal file sharing and downloading.

GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8, EPISODE 6 STREAMING

Sky Atlantic will be repeating the Game of Thrones series finale on Monday, May 20 at 9pm BST for those who couldn’t stay up to watch the episode.

Game of Thrones fans in Britain can now either watch the series live as it airs in the early hours of the morning or when they wake up – but be sure to steer away from social media to avoid any spoilers.

According to research from Brandwatch Analytics, 59 percent of Game of Thrones fans are worried about the finale being spoilt for them.

Meanwhile, one in three Brits is planning to actually wake up at 2am and watch the show live in order to avoid being hit by spoilers in the morning.

GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8, EPISODE 6 RELEASE DATE

Sky Atlantic has confirmed it will be doing a social media blackout for 24 hours so as not to spoil the last episode for fans.

Boss of Sky programmes, Zai Bennett said: “If you’re planning to use social media on Monday you’ll have to be stealthier than Arya creeping into the godswood to avoid spoiling the ending of Thrones.

“We’ll be doing our bit to let fans enjoy the final episode in peace, but if you’re not tuning in at 2am your best bet is to turn off notifications and have a social vacation until you’ve caught up!”

Programme-makers are giving very little away about the finale with the preview only teasing brief shots of Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage).

HAVE GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8 EPISODES 5 AND 6 BEEN LEAKED?

Equally, the first look images are ambiguous with a shot of the Mother of Dragons looking out over a decimated King’s Landing as the Unsullied stand in a formation below.

The image is eerily reminiscent of a dictatorship with the allusion Dany has now transformed into a tyrant after her merciless attack on her own subjects in a bid to reclaim the Iron Throne.

Another image depicts a morose-looking Tyrion, who has become increasingly ineffective this season and repeatedly makes mistakes. Perhaps he’s rueing his latest bad decision by betraying Varys’ (Conleth Hill) treason plot.

Game of Thrones season 8 concludes Sunday on HBO in the US and the following day on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK
