Game of Thrones season 8 ending is "emotionally thrilling" teases HBO boss

Game of Thrones will soon come to an end after eight brilliant seasons, but what can we expect?

The HBO boss has teased in an early review that fans will be "very happy" with what’s to come.

Fans of the series have seen the characters battle among themselves for the Iron Throne for almost a decade, with plenty of bloodshed.

Now it’s all coming to an end in a final six episode run airing from Sunday, April 14 in the US and on Sky Atlantic in the UK on Monday, April 15 at 2am in the morning – though it repeats at 9pm.

HBO president Casey Bloys has watched the final series of Game of Thrones and shared his opinion in the first ever review.

It’s both effusive and (a little) biased.

“Everything I have seen makes me very, very confident that this is a [season] fans are going to be very happy with,” HBO president Casey Bloys told TVLine . “It is a dramatically and emotionally thrilling way to end the series. I believe it will live up to the very high expectations.”

He also said at the TCAs Winter Tour recently: “The only thing I will say as a fan of the show is that I think the guys have done a brilliant job of ending the show in a dramatically satisfying and emotionally satisfying way.”

He went on to say: “I do believe that fans are going to be really really happy with how it all wraps up.”

The final series has been kept pretty secret, with little to no details being leaked before it airs, but fans have already been coming up with their theories as to what will happen.

When Bloys was asked for more details, he said: “All I can tell you as part of this season, is it is all spectacular.”

The cast have been similarly tight-lipped. Ser Davos Seaworth star Liam Cunningham said it would be "bittersweet".

Sophie Turner aka Sansa Stark said: “I think a lot of fans will be disappointed and a lot of fans will be over the moon.”

The author himself, George R.R. Martin has said previously the series will be happy but tinged with sadness.

We’ve had a trailer and the first pictures for season eight too.

Cersei doesn’t look pregnant, so fans have guessed she will lose her baby or she was never pregnant to start with.

Fans with eagle eyes spotted Jamie Lannister is wearing amour similar to Rob Stark’s leading them to believe he makes it to the north and joins Jon Snow, Sansa Stark and Daenerys.

There’s also Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys (Emilia Clarke)in the batch of 13 images suggesting their romance is alive and well.

Let’s hope they don’t find out about their family connection, because ew.
