Game of Thrones season 8: Daenerys and Jon’s Winterfell fate revealed in HUGE clue?

Game of Thrones season eight is almost here, and fans are coming up with all sorts of theories on what will happen in the final season.

There have been two new promos for the final season – Together and Aftermath – and an eagle-eyed viewer has spotted that they seem to hint at Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) returning to Dragonstone following the battle at Winterfell.

The Reddit user, Spiral66, suggested that a scene in the Together promo in which Jon and Daenerys sit by the fireplace at Dragonstone, hints at the two characters surviving the much-discussed battle with the Army of the Dead at Winterfell.

Fans are aware that season eight will begin with Jon and Daenerys in the North, which could mean the show has already teased their fates when they are later spotted at Dragonstone.

Speaking to Huffington Post, Reddit user Spiral66 explained: “When the promo came out, most people assumed, including myself, that the shot of Dany was before the big battle at Winterfell.

“But as this sub has a tendency to overanalyse things, I started thinking, ‘What if this was somewhere else?’

“And sure enough, after looking up the Dragonstone fireplace, the carvings from both images matched.

“After that, I checked what the Winterfell fireplaces looked like, and they seem to have a much more traditional style, so then I became certain this scene was at Dragonstone.”

However, the user went on to point out that their survival might not be a good thing since it means that they might have to retreat from Winterfell after the battle.

They also look rather “contemplative” which suggests the death of one or several major characters in the fight against the White Walkers.

Jorah Mormont (Ian Glen) or Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) seem to be the ones people think will be most likely to die in this battle.

Both characters’ deaths would significantly affect Daenerys, yet she might find it particularly hard should Jorah be the one to lose the battle, given his important presence in her life over the years.

There’s also the fact that if Daenerys ends up going back to Dragonstone, it could suggest she’s given up after the battle.

Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk) did warn Daenerys she should go back to her island if she wanted to stay alive.

He said towards the end of season seven: “I’m going back to my island. You should go back to yours.

“When Winter’s over, we’ll be the only ones left alive.”

Meanwhile, fans have been speculating on who will become the big villain of the series, and one theory has teased it could be Daenerys Targaryen.

One Reddit user explained how she’d end up being the villain in Game of Thrones season eight, suggesting: “Daenerys Targaryen will end as the big bad, because she would be an interesting, and dangerous villain.

“She is extremely powerful, possessing the largest army as well as dragons.

“She is sympathetic, having been abused and hunted her whole life, punished for the sins of her family, yet still being generous to those closest to her.”

Game of Thrones season eight premieres on April 14 on HBO and Sky Atlantic and on NOW TV on April 15.
