The actors played Cersei Lannister and Jorah Mormont in the HBO and Sky Atlantic phenomenon, which came to an end last month. Now they’re back together again in The Flood, a British drama that gets its cinematic release this Friday. Humans star Ivanno Jeremiah and Hollyoaks and Doctor Who favourite Mandip Gill are also aboard.

The Flood is about an immigration officer – played by Headey – who is offered a high-profile asylum case.

She has to deduce whether Haile (Jeremiah) is lying about his reasons for seeking asylum. Glen plays her boss.

Based on true stories, Headey also serves as an executive producer.

“I sort of grew up in the small British film industry,” she told The Guardian.

“Back when films were made for no money by people who felt passionate about their projects, and were shot in a really small space of time. And I missed that way of film-making.”

Of its subject matter – the refugee crisis – she added: “It’s not a cool thing to talk about. It’s kind of ugly. And sort of unfathomable.

“But when are we going to realise we need to find something that works?”

In the same interview, the star also said she was “gutted” by how Cersei’s story ended – with an underwhelming death scene – in Game of Thrones.

At the time, she had mocked the scene by recreating it on Instagram using Lego bricks.

Now, fans will have to wait and see if Cersei’s fate is the same on the page, when George RR Martin finally releases the final two books in the A Song Of Ice and Fire saga, which inspired the show.

The Winds of Winter, book six of seven, is currently in the works and should be released by summer 2020.

The Flood is out on Friday.
