From Adele to Little Simz – this year's Brit Awards will be a night to remember

THIS year’s Brit Awards should be a night to remember, with bosses pulling out all the stops to secure a stellar line-up to perform on the night.

Adele will cement her triumphant comeback with what is her first Brits gig in five years. Also performing on the evening will be Dave, Little Simz and Sam Fender, each of whom is up for several gongs.

Organisers are working around the clock to secure top US acts Billie Eilish and Doja Cat, battling against Covid travel restrictions to make the eye-catching signings a reality.

And Ed Sheeran, who is nominated for four awards, is also expected to attend. Speaking ahead of the bash, which takes place on Tuesday, February 8, at London’s O2 Arena, our music mole said: “Brits bosses want to celebrate the music industry, and after a tough two years they want to put on a show to remember by bagging the best acts of the moment.

“They feel it’s really important that Adele returns to the Brits stage after the huge worldwide success she has had with her comeback album. The organisers want to celebrate her. She is based in the US and they are aware that they might have to settle for a video performance as a backup. But ideally they would like her there in person, especially as she is up for four awards.”

Our source added: “Safety is still a big priority and it’s likely that Covid passes will be needed, as well as a stripped-back audience capacity. But everyone is desperate to have some fun and look forward to the future. Industry folk on the night will have a proper knees-up while the viewers at home will feel like they are watching a very special concert.”

Rising Star winner Holly Humberstone will also take to the stage on the night, alongside comedian Mo Gilligan and radio DJs Clara Amfo and Maya Jama, who are on hosting duties.

Adele, of course, has forgiven organisers after she was famously cut off by that year’s master of ceremonies, James Corden, during her 2012 acceptance speech for Best British Album.

FKA BARES SOUL

FKA TWIGS left little to the imagination when she stepped out at the launch party for her new mixtape Caprisongs on Friday night.

The singer looked stunning as she posed in a barely-there dress at London’s The Standard. Also at the launch were boyfriend Matt Healy, of THE 1975, and fellow hit-maker Jorja Smith, who features on the project.

Speaking about the release this week, FKA said: “I think it’s my response to where the world has been at in recent times.

"I have fallen back in love with music, danger, trying new things, sex, love, raves.”

DEVILISHLY GOOD, ANNE

IT’S more than 15 years since Anna Hathaway's Andrea Sachs took on the wrath of Meryl Streep’s fashion-mag boss Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada.

But the actress could have pilfered an outfit from Andrea’s screen wardrobe as she posed for a series of stylish photos on her Instagram page.

Anne, who paired her Valentino dress with Giuseppe Zanotti boots, also sported Andrea’s trademark bangs as she snapped selfies in her dressing-room mirror.

Miranda would be proud . . . or satisfied, anyway.

LILY’S DAY FROM ELL

SHE played Cinderella in the Disney’s 2015 big-screen live adaptation, but according to Lily James even fairytale princesses have their bad days.

Lily told how she once had to jump out of a convoy of cars – while dressed in a Dior gown and diamonds – to dash into a grimy petrol station loo.

Lily, who is dating QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE bassist Michael Shuman, was promoting the flick at the Berlin Film Festival when nature suddenly called.

She had no choice but to traipse into the petrol station wearing her pink silk dress, a swanky De Beers diamond necklace and custom-made Jimmy Choo shoes.

Lily told Porter magazine: “I remember once going to the Berlin Film Festival in this amazing pink dress with all these diamonds, but I had an awful urine infection, so had to leave the convoy of cars to run over to a petrol station toilet. That’s my glamorous reality.”

Luckily, after the brief detour, she still managed to get to the ball.

NIK & ANT WORK OUT

SOAP fave Nikki Sanderson is dating former Emmerdale actor Anthony Quinlan.

The Hollyoaks star, who split with ex Greg Whitehurst during lockdown in 2020, struck up a romance with Anthony last year.

And sources say the pair’s love has gone from strength to strength.

One told us: “Nikki and Anthony go to the same gym and are really into fitness, so they bonded over that. It’s been a while now and things are going well. Nikki has been having a bit of a tough time lately, and Anthony has been a great support for her.”

Billie Faiers’ success

BILLIE FAIERS has proved she can be a success without sister Sam.

Her reality show The Family Diaries has been given a second series by ITVBe bosses.

GONG HO-HUM, RICKY

HE may have amassed an impressive pile of gongs – from Baftas to Golden Globes and Emmys – but Ricky Gervais insists he doesn’t care about winning awards.

The After Life creator reckons they are all political and he would rather make viewers at home smile instead.

He said: “I’m proud of my achievements but all awards are arbitrary – it could have been down to one or two every time.

“It’s still nice to be nominated, but I don’t see any more worth in an Emmy than someone on Twitter saying, ‘I cried’ – it gives me the same buzz. If anything, people at home loving it means more to me, because with an awards body there is still politics.

“It’s not like winning the 100 metres. When I win an Emmy or Golden Globe, that’s some people’s opinion. I didn’t beat Usain Bolt over 100 metres – he’s the best In the world. But this, it’s subjective.

“Some other people liked my show too, and I’m grateful. But with the viewers at home it’s just more meaningful.”

BARNEY’S BUBBLE

BRADLEY WALSH’s son Barney has bagged himself a stunning ex-Miss World girlfriend.

The telly fave, whose latest series of Breaking Dad starts tomorrow on ITV, went Instagram official with ex-pageant queen Stephanie Del Valle Diaz.

Bradley met the Puerto Rican when he was hosting a beauty contest a few years ago.

A source said: “The couple started out as mates. They’re now very loved-up and recently enjoyed a winter holiday to Portugal. They get on really well and know they’re both young in their careers so give each other space to pursue their dreams. This is set to be a big year for them.”

Howard’s funky disco grooves

GOOD news for Howard Donald fans. If you want to see the ex-TAKE THAT man, you only need a tenner.

Howard is gracing the decks of little-known Bournemouth venue Canvas later this month, where he will be providing “funky disco grooves”.

And earlybird tickets for the club’s Glitterati night next Saturday are just £10.

An ad for the event says: “We take you back to the halcyon days of Studio 54, where good times reigned and feel-good music was played to the great and glam of NYC. We are joined by Take That legend Howard Donald, providing the funky disco grooves!”

POSH LIKES A NOSH  – NOW AND AGAIN

VICTORIA BECKHAM has revealed she has been converted to an “intermittent fasting” routine, hailing the plan as “life-changing”.

The chart-star-turned-designer said she was introduced to the routine by self-styled “King of Health” Dr Harry Konig at his Villa Stephanie spa and wellbeing centre in Baden-Baden, Germany.

She gushed that fasting has improved her skin, made her eyes sparkle and boosted her energy levels.

Vic said: “I went to Villa Stephanie a few years ago, which was incredible. The doctor who runs it, Dr Konig, was amazing and it was quite life-changing. He introduced me to intermittent fasting.

“It’s not something I do every day, as DAVID and I are very sociable. We like eating out and I don’t want to say, ‘No, I’m fasting’. But I do it every now and again. I see the difference in my skin, my eyes are whiter and sparklier and I have so much more energy.”

We don’t see how fasting can give you more energy but we’ll take Posh’s word for it. Speaking in a magazine interview, she added: “I do eat carbs, but I keep them to a minimum.” No Friday Domino’s, then  . . .

MILES IS SMITTEN

INDIE rocker Miles Kane is dating a stunning PR named Nadya Duke.

The musician – who has been previously linked to Suki Waterhouse, Lana del Rey, Agyness Deyn and Laura Whitmore – has been dating Nadya since last year. Insiders say Miles – half of THE LAST SHADOW PUPPETS with Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner – seems “absolutely smitten”.

A source revealed: “Miles has had a series of high-profile girlfriends but he seems absolutely smitten with Nadya. He can’t stop talking about her.”

Brunette Nadya went Instagram-official with their romance this month.
