Four Weddings And A Funeral cast will reunite for the first time in 25 years for Red Nose Day 2019

Writer-producer extraordinaire Richard Curtis – who wrote the original blockbuster – has been drafted in to write the short film for the charity that he co-founded.

Rom-com fans everywhere will rejoice at the news of a reunion of one of the all-time most beloved films in the genre.

The short film, which will be called One Red Nose Day And A Wedding, will feature all the original cast members – including Hugh Grant, Andie MacDowell, Kristin Scott Thomas and Rowan Atkinson.

Director Mike Newell, who was behind the first instalment, is also returning.

The one-off special follows the success of 2017's Red Nose Day Actually based on 2003's international hit film Love Actually.

On the exciting news, writer Richard said: "We’re all definitely older – I suspect no wiser.

"It’s been really enjoyable working out what’s happened to all the characters.

"And now they get back together for the 5th wedding. Where, as usual, not everything will go as planned.”

In July, it was revealed that the original cast reunited to discuss the possibility of a second instalment.

Fans were over the moon to know that Hugh, Andie and Anna Chancellor were in talks to make another movie a quarter of a century after the first one stormed cinemas.

Anna, who played Duck Face, said: “We had a reunion at (writer) Richard Curtis’s house, and Andie was there.

“It’s mad that it came out 24 years ago. Not all of the cast came to the reunion, but there were about 10 of us.

“We haven’t all kept in touch but I have with Andie MacDowell. Andie hadn’t seen Hugh for a long time, it was really touching. And Richard gave a speech. It was fantastic."

They talked about getting back together on set but admitted nothing was set in stone.

She added to The Mirror: "We talked about a follow-up but I don’t think there is going to be one.

"It was one of my first films, so everything was amazing, but this generation are not so familiar with the film."

The 1994 romantic comedy is one of the most successful films in British cinema.

It follows lovable Englishman Charles (Hugh Grant) and his unlucky in love pals.

Charles falls for American beauty Carrie (Andie MacDowell) at a wedding – but thinks she's not interested when she returns to the States.

Though they seem destined to remain apart they continue to bump into each other at a handful of nuptials and one funeral.

In the meantime, Anna’s Duck Face is jilted by Hugh’s Charles – twice.

The movie has become a cult hit and Anna admitted she's still called Duck Face by fans.

She added: “I still do get called Duck Face by people all the time.”

One Red Nose Day And A Wedding will premiere on BBC One on Friday 15th March.
