Former Neighbours star Mark Little rules out return as Joe Mangel

Former Neighbours star Mark Little has ruled out a return to the soap.

The actor played Joe Mangel between 1988 and 1991, but did make a brief comeback for the show’s 20th anniversary in 2005.

Speaking at Build Series London as part of the announcement that he is joining Dancing on Ice‘s 2019 line-up, Mark was asked about his time on Neighbours and whether or not fans could see Joe again on Ramsay Street.

“No. No, I’ve done my bit,” he said. “I don’t think they’ve got any money! And I did it the first time for not much money, but we won’t go into that.

“I’ve done my bit, and I’m still Joe anyway. I don’t know what he’s doing anyway. I think my cousin Jane was in it… I think she popped back and she mentioned something and it came up on Twitter like, ‘Oh no, Joe Mangel’s back, is he?’

“I wish I got a couple of quid every time they mentioned his name on that show! But no, I don’t think I’ll be back. I’ve done my bit.”

Mark added, however, that he pitched to be a Dingle on Emmerdale a while ago.

“I did mention to Emmerdale that ‘Joe Dingle’, the Australian Dingle, could come into the show!” he said. “Joe Dingle! But they never bit.”

Speaking about joining Dancing on Ice, the actor said that the show will be “really exciting and really nerve-wracking”.

Reality TV star Gemma Collins, EastEnders‘ Richard Blackwood, former Strictly Come Dancing star James Jordan, singer Brian McFadden, Loose Women‘s Saira Khan, cricketer Ryan Sidebottom, Pussycat Dolls’ Melody Thornton, and Coronation Street star Jane Danson are also part of the line-up.

Neighbours airs on Channel 5 in the UK. Dancing on Ice returns next year on ITV.
