Former EastEnders actress Rita Simons teams up with three other soap stars on new theatre project

Rita Simons is returning to the stage, and three other former soap stars are joining her.

The actress, known for playing Roxy Mitchell on EastEnders between 2007 and 2017, will be starring in the play The House on Cold Hill from January 2019 as Caro Harcourt.

Former Heartbeat and Holby City star Joe McFadden is onboard as Caro’s husband Ollie, while Rita’s former EastEnders co-star Charlie Clements, best known as Bradley Branning, is playing Chris.

Persephone Swales-Dawson, who featured on Hollyoaks as Nico Blake between 2014 and 2018, has also been announced as part of the cast, making her debut on the stage as Caro and Ollie’s daughter Jade.

“I am really thrilled to be starring in The House on Cold Hill alongside such great actors as Joe, Charlie, Persephone and the rest of the cast,” Rita said. “I could not put it down when I first read the script – it’s a brilliant and modern day supernatural thriller that had me totally gripped and occasionally jumping out of my seat!

“I can’t wait to see audiences hopefully have the same reaction to it, in theatres around the UK.”

The House on Cold Hill follows the Harcourt family as they move into a new house – only to find that it may be haunted.
