Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald gives us a brand new look at Nicolas Flamel

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has shared a new look at Nicolas Flamel.

Flamel was a real person who died in 1418. He gained a reputation as an alchemist after his death and was said to have discovered the Philosopher’s Stone, according to legend.

Pottermore previously announced that Flamel – who was originally mentioned in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – would appear in Fantastic Beasts 2, played by Brontis Jodorowsky.

Flamel is known in the Wizarding World as the person who discovered the Elixir of Life and created the Philosopher’s Stone.

The new clip, teased on Twitter, is accompanied by the caption: “Meet the inventor of the Philosopher’s Stone.

“Are you a ghost?” Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler) asks, to which Flamel says: “No, I’m alive. But I’m an alchemist and therefore immortal.”

“You don’t look a day over 375,” Kowalski replies.

As well as returning to Hogwarts, the Fantastic Beasts sequel will fill in the backstory hinted at in the Harry Potter series, and possibly even feature some romance for our hero Newt Scamander.

It’s also set to move things from New York to Paris, and some new details recently emerged giving us more details as to why the characters find themselves in the French capital.

The Crimes of Grindelwald will be released in UK and US cinemas on November 16, 2018.
