Emmerdale star Ryan Hawley has revealed that his character Robert Sugden will finally accept that Rebecca White must be dead next week.
Robert fears the worst about the mother of his child after making another sinister discovery in his desperate search for answers.
Recent episodes have seen Robert refuse to accept that Rebecca is really gone for good, despite everyone else being convinced that Lachlan has killed her.
Viewers know that Rebecca is actually being held captive by a mysterious nurse on Lachlan’s orders – but there’s still yet another twist to come next week.
When Rebecca’s captor sees Lachlan on the news and realises that she’s been duped, she approaches Rebecca menacingly with a syringe and things don’t look good.
Not long afterwards, Robert turns up in the room where Rebecca has been held following a tip-off from Lachlan, who’s finally provided some answers. However, when Robert finds blood and chains left discarded, he finally loses his hope for Rebecca.
Speaking about the unsettling drama in store, Ryan explained: “Robert gets there as quick as he can when Lachlan gives him the address. He forces his way inside and it’s a very strange set-up.
“There are signs of a struggle, there’s blood and Rebecca is not there. Robert feels awful and he calls the police straight away.
“Robert is in a state of shock over what he’s looking at. In that moment, he thinks Rebecca is dead. He thinks that he’s got there too late, or Lachlan has toyed with him by sending him there.”
In the aftermath, Lachlan calls Robert from prison and the twisted teen urges him to believe that he left Rebecca in the care of the nurse.
However, Ryan added: “Robert doesn’t believe Lachlan, because up until this point Lachlan has been unreliable, dishonest and manipulative.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
