Emmerdale's Amy Walsh reveals fear her character will be killed off after she becomes trapped in a fire at the factory

EMMERDALE star Amy Walsh fears her soap character will be killed off after she becomes trapped in a fire at the sweet factory.

The actress, who plays Tracy Metcalfe in the hit ITV show, is worried she'll be out of a job thanks to her latest storyline.

She told We Love TV magazine: "I was told that Tracy was going to be involved in a huge fire at the factory and I was like, ‘No!’

"So I was anxious, because that’s how the soap world is.

"You have to be prepared for your character possibly being written out one day."

Amy says she can't wait to see the dramatic scenes that see the factory go up in smoke.

She said: "I’m so excited because I think they’re amazing scenes.

"It was an intense day on set for me, because I had so much screaming and crying to do.

"When the building exploded I could feel the impact of the blast and the flames were boiling hot.

"It’s 100 per cent the most challenged I’ve been as an actor. It took a toll on me both physically and emotionally.

"I needed a stiff gin to steady my nerves at the end of the day, then switched off at home by watching Love Island!"

An inferno will rip through the Sharma sweet factory next Thursday after Kerry and Amy Wyatt cause the blaze – and official episode synopses have already teased that there will be a fatality.

This has led to a guessing game among viewers of the soap on twitter, who believe that hidden clues over recent weeks point to sweet packer Frank Clayton – played by Michael Praed – dying in the flames.

An explosive trailer for the storyline shows Frank's daughter Tracy Metcalfe trapped in the blaze, leading to theories that he will die trying to save her.

Tracy is seen in the smoke-filled building shouting and banging on the door screaming: “Help me someone, I’m in here. Help me!”

Frank also appears to be near the burning factory in the clip, suggesting he will be involved in the dramatic plot.

"Frank is going to tun in to save Tracy and die," predicted one fan on twitter.

Said a second: "I also think Frank will die in the fire and maybe he dies trying to save Tracy. Then Tracy could feel guilty for Frank dying."
