Emmerdale star Dean Andrews definitely taught Robert De Niro everything he knows when he comes to acting.
The 75-year-old actor is the new star of an advert for Warburtons, trying to get the British public to buy bagels.
Andrews, who plays Will on the ITV soap, joked that De Niro took tips from him when he interviewed the legendary actor on stage at a public appearance in Leeds.
He explained on Loose Women: ‘They said interviewer to be confirmed and I said to my wife, email them and tell them I’ll do it.
‘I ended up interviewing him for two nights. He’d come over especially to do the new adverts and incorporated the appearance.’
When panellist Janet Street Porter mentioned the bread advert, Dean quipped: ‘I’m just glad he’s taken some of the notes I gave him.’
Dean must have given great feedback as the advert, which invokes his gangster film series The Godfather, quickly went viral.
The A-list star is famously a tricky person to interview, but the soap star said he found a way to get around it.
He added: ‘He’s usually difficult but if you structure the questions in the way that he can’t just [nod], it works out okay. He knew why he was there.’
Meanwhile his character Will Taylor is set to have a terrifying showdown with vicar Harriet Finch who he has been stalking for weeks.
Teasing upcoming episodes, Dean said: ‘It comes to a crescendo all the stuff Will’s been doing, they come face to face in the church. It gets a bit much for Will and he pounces and not in a good way.’
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30 on ITV.
