Emmerdale star reveals ‘life-changing’ discovery helping husband’s condition

Emmerdale actress Zoe Henry has opened up about her relationship with Jeff Hordley and has said that they discovered one thing that helped him manage his Crohn’s disease.

Jeff, who also stars in the ITV soap as Cain Dingle, was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when he was 18.

Appearing on Loose Women today, Zoe revealed that there are a lot of benefits that come with their allotment .

"Jeff’s had Crohns. He was diagnosed when he was about 18, so he was 23 when I met him, and it’s sort of changed our lives," she said.

"There’s a lot to be said about mental health and having your hands in the soil – that’s a big one for me," she said. "For Jeff, it’s the health benefits of eating what we’ve grown."

"It’s great to share with my kids as well," she added. "Not that they love it, they hate it. But I’m working on that!

Zoe also spoke about her character Rhona Goskirk, whose menopause was sparked after her emergency hysterctomy.

After being involved in a tractor accident, doctors discovered that she had non-cancerous growths in her womb.

"It’s opened up a massive can of worms, we’ve not really referenced the age gap between my character and Pete [Barton]," she said.

"It’s brought that into focus, and I really like that because it just terrifies her. Not only is she staring down the barrel of changing her own future, its impacting somebody else’s, whose younger and can go on to have kids.

"She sounds like she’s being a martyr, but she’s seeing the bigger picture and going, ‘What can I give you, I’m useless’. It’s such a shock, it happened very quickly.

"She’s still suffering the effects of the accident and her head’s all over the place as it is for any woman going through the menopause."
