Emmerdale star didn't leave house for months after Covid deaths

Emmerdale icon Claire King has shared that she didn’t leave her house for up to two months after the pandemic hit and the country went into lockdown – both due to the fact that she was a shielder and also how seriously Covid-19 has to be taken.

The Kim Tate star recently returned to filming after it was deemed safe for her to do so but she admitted that ‘you can’t mess around’ with risks when it comes to the virus as she knew some people who died from the condition.

Speaking to The Mirror, she said: ‘I could have gone back earlier but because of my low immunity due to my rheumatoid arthritis, Emmerdale thought they’d better not risk it and decided to write me out until they knew it was safe.

You can’t muck around with coronavirus and for the first month or two I basically didn’t go out of the house.

‘Unfortunately I know people who’ve got it and people who have died from it, so you have to take it seriously and you’ve got to be respectful of others.’

She added: ‘I was really strict. We just stayed in. Luckily, we get on fine and we watched lots of box sets.

‘I’ve kept busy in other ways. I’ve done all the decorating, put floors down and all sorts. I did all the cleaning – the curtains, the soft furnishings, everything – and I did the garden.’

Kim is going to be even busier when she returns as she puts son Jamie (Alexander Lincoln) in his place – and also be sharing a flirtation with a new love interest at the end of the year.
