Emmerdale killer Lachlan White has accidentally revealed another possible clue to Rebecca’s fate – by speaking about her in the past tense.
Fans have been left to guess over whether Rebecca is alive or dead, after Lachlan (Thomas Atkinson) appeared to suffocate her in a shocking cliffhanger earlier this month.
Tuesday’s episode (August 21) saw Lachlan pay a visit to Rebecca’s baby son Seb at Aaron and Robert’s house, wanting to spend some time with the only family member he has left in the village.

Lachlan told Seb: “I know your mum’s not around, but I need you to know that she loved you very much.”
The villain’s girlfriend Belle Dingle jumped in by saying: “Loves. She still loves you, Seb.”
Nervously correcting himself, Lachlan added: “Yeah, that’s what I meant. And while she’s not here, I’m going to look out for you. I’m going to give you everything you need.”
But had Lachlan just inadvertently given the game away, without Belle or Aaron realising it? All of his recent behaviour seems to suggest that Lachlan knows Rebecca won’t ever be coming back.

Emmerdale fans still haven’t seen Rebecca’s body and there’s been no exit statement from Emily Head, who plays her. This has led to some speculation that she could return – along with a recent leaked picture showing Emily on set.
Another theory is that Rebecca’s fate won’t be confirmed officially by the show until her body is found – and that Emily’s recent trip to the set could have just been a visit.
Whatever the truth is, we know that Lachlan’s story will go into overdrive over the next few weeks, so there are sure to be more answers soon.
Upcoming episodes see Belle, Sam Dingle and Robert Sugden all in danger as Lachlan’s true colours threaten to be exposed, but will they all live to tell the tale?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
