Emmerdale revisits two tragic deaths in moving new story

It’s been nine months since that fateful day a storm blew through Emmerdale village and snuffed out the lives of two beloved locals.

Though they’re gone, they’re not forgotten as Emmerdale prepares to pay tribute to Liv (Isobel Steele) and Harriet (Katherine Dow Blyton), one crushed by a caravan, one crushed by a quad bike.

And it’s Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) who puts their names back in everyone’s mouths, surprisingly. Yes, she does have feelings. Nicola is overly excited that her new bus stop is almost finished. It’s a huge deal for her and she expects it to be for everyone else too, but when she hears of Bernice’s (Samantha Giles) lack of enthusiasm, it knocks the wind out of her sails.

Gutted by the lack of support, Nicola blurts out the truth behind the bus stop and Bernice is shocked – it’s actually a sweet memorial for Harriet and Liv.

No one saw that coming from the normally cold-hearted café owner.

As the big reveal day arrives Nicola is worried she’s been let down by the council, but the turn out proves to her that this is a very special commission she has made. Nicola gets herself into a tizz as the nerves take over – which shows how much it truly means to her – and she delivers the most beautiful heartfelt speech. Everyone is touched by the nod to their fallen friends.

But things take a dark turn – with a screech of tyres the council rep arrives, and it’s Colin. He’s furious the unveiling has already gone ahead and demands they do it over.

He loses the crowd as he gives an unfeeling speech as someone who didn’t even know the two women who the bus stop immortalises.

Colin rages at Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) and Jai (Chris Bisson), and it’s all caught on video. It goes viral and proves Nicola’s big day was a huge success in more ways than one.
