Emmerdale Jeff Hordley addresses Cain Dingle’s ‘death’ amid twisted police plot

Emmerdale star Jeff Hordley has spoken out about his character Cain Dingle's future on the beloved ITV soap after fans feared he would be killed off.

Jeff, 50, has played the iconic part of Cain since 2000, but ever since his character crossed paths with a certain evil resident in the village, fans have been concerned.

Viewers watched Cain's fiery feud with corrupt police officer DI Malone, and fans feared producers were planning on writing him out of the show as a result.

Cain actor Jeff has addressed the rumours of his character's departure, saying he cannot confirm or deny fans' fears that his character will die.

He told the Press Association that he has not read his scripts, so has kept himself in the dark over his character's future on the popular ITV soap.

Jeff told the publication: "Mark and myself have just been really enjoying these sparring matches. But I do think he's met his match – maybe on both counts," Jeff said.

"As the story will play out, we'll find out," he added.

The actor has also revealed that his character has a shelf life, and is unsure as to when his time on the television show will come to an end.

He said: "I’ve enjoyed playing Cain it’s been a huge part of my life. I’m very close to him and protective over him. But inevitably there will be a day where the script writers or the producers say it’s the end of the line."
