Emma Willis struggles to hold back tears as she brands Big Brother ‘f**king good’ after it gets axe

The 42-year-old was overcome with emotion as she chatted to Rylan Clark Neal about how “f**king good” the show is, just hours after the news broke it had been axed from Channel 5.

She told the audience, which was full of Big Brother legends: “This should be a positive thing because we should just f**king show everybody how great it is.

“And we should love it and embrace it and give it the send-off it deserves.”

Discussing her final ever launch show, she said: “It was brilliant and I think all the changes that the production team have made this series for celeb and the one that we are about to enter…

“I think they have taken all the brilliant bits from the past and brought them back and mixed them with something different for the future because it’s been on for a bloody long time and it has to be different , so I think they have made…,” she continued as she held back tears.

“I am getting emotional now too. They’ve made a brilliant mix.”

Earlier today it was announced that Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother had been axed from Channel 5.

Big Brother aired on Channel 4 from 2000 to 2010 before switching to Channel 5 from 2011, and it’s thought it could be picked up by another channel.

The nineteenth series of the show launched on Channel 5 this evening and the 14 new contestants began their battle to win £100,000.

Waitress Sian took the early lead, being chosen by the public to receive 100 Big Coins whilst all the other housemates were forced to scramble for coins as they dropped from the ceiling onto the Big Brother house floor.

Cian, a farmer from County Tipperary was the first to enter the house, followed by spiritual advisor Anamelia, who is confident she will be able to "outsmart" Big Brother. Bartender Lewis F was next to enter the famous abode, with call centre worker Kenaley, 31-year-old Tomasz and the youngest contestant, vlogger Cameron, following closely behind.

Sian was next to head into the mansion, joined by fast food worker Ellis, semi-professional footballer Isaac and Brooke, a graphic designer from London. Akeem, Kay, Zoe and Lewis G completed the lineup.
