EastEnders star Tanya Franks doesn't know what the future holds for Rainie once Kate Oates takes over

EastEnders actress Tanya Franks has admitted that she has no idea what will happen to her character Rainie once Kate Oates takes over as showrunner.

“I don’t know what it means for my character,” she told OK! Online.

“I have no idea what the future brings with Kate but I know it’s an important role to fill and that it could be a change in dynamic.

“I don’t know what her ideas are for the show or for my character but on other shows – she’s had a great influence over shows like Emmerdale and it’s a big job to fill so I’m sure her experience will be valuable.”

Oates was confirmed as the new EastEnders boss in August, taking over from John Yorke, who stepped in to run the show on a temporary basis.

Franks added that Yorke wouldn’t have let just anyone take over the soap.

“He’s spent a long time choosing this person so the value she brings will be absolutely worthwhile to the show,” she said.

Franks may not know what’s in store for her character, but she said she’s enjoying finding out about this new side to Rainie.

EastEnders airs on BBC One, Mondays and Fridays at 8pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm.
