RAINIE Cross gets a shock in EastEnders next week when Max Branning returns from France and tells her he wants to make a proper go of their marriage.
She’s stunned because the last thing she knew was that Max – returning star Jake Wood – had moved on with a French primary school teacher and had no interest in coming back to Walford for her. So what’s changed?
Rainie – who’s played by Tanya Franks in the BBC soap – is furious with Max for turning up out of the blue and telling her he wants to move forward as a couple.
Rainie isn’t the only one confused by Max’s announcement, and his brother Jack Branning gives him a stern reality check about her.
The former drug addict also gets into a feud with Ben Mitchell – Max Bowden – over the car lot.
Ben overhears a tense conversation between Rainie and Stuart Highway which gives him an idea.
He deliberately sabotages a sale at the car lot before offering up his services to fix the broken car.
Rainie quickly works out what he’s playing at and accuses him of deliberately tampering with the car.
Later Ben calls in a favour and the next day Rainie is stunned when all the cars from the lot have been stolen.
He then tells Jay that he still legally owns the car lot and says he’ll help him fight Max for it.
When Max takes Rainie for lunch at the Vic, he’s unnerved when he sees Ben watching them.
Later Ben puts even more pressure on Jay and suggests they go into business together.
Just as Max is trying to make amends with Rainie, Ben and Jay arrive and point out the original documents Jay signed weren’t legal.
