EastEnders spoilers: Lauren Branning’s return sealed in heartbreaking baby Abi twist?

Lauren (played by Jacqueline Jossa) left the Square behind after the death of her sister Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald).

She’s currently living in New Zealand with her son Louie and his dad Peter Beale (Ben Hardy).

However, she made an expected return to EastEnders last night as dad Max (Jake Wood) phoned her up.

Viewers of the BBC soap didn’t see Lauren but judging by Max’s reply, she was concerned about why he was calling.

He said: ”No there’s no reason. Just wanted to hear your voice, that’s all.”

“No I’ve just…been thinking about you, that’s all,” he continued as he started breaking down.

He was struggling to hold it together as he lied to his daughter about his granddaughter, baby Abi.

Max told Lauren the baby was okay and didn’t reveal that she’d actually been taken by Rainie (Tanya Franks).

“Abi’s fine,” he fibbed. “No, she’s fine. She’s sleeping here beside me.”

The call came to an end as it appeared it was a bad time for Lauren to talk.

Max was left in tears as he reached for a drink to drown his sorrows.

The scene left many calling for Lauren to return to Walford, as one tweeted: “When Max called Lauren I was hoping he was gonna ask her to come home @jacquelineMjos #EastEnders.”

“Can Lauren come back now please #eastenders,” another added.

While a third exclaimed: “Omg Max calling Lauren. #EastEnders.”

“@jacquelineMjos Bring back Lauren Branning #Eastenders #LaurenBranning #MaxBranning #Abi #BringBackLauren,” a fourth shared.

Could the call pave the way to Max reaching out to Lauren again for help with Abi?

Lauren also received a mention on the programme recently after Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) visited her and Peter in New Zealand.

He explained to the Beales that he’d looked after Louie while Lauren and Peter worked through some issues they’d been having.

Perhaps another break up between Lauren and Peter send her running back to Walford.

EastEnders continues tonight at 8.30pm on BBC One.
