EastEnders revisits Archie Mitchell death plot as Stacey faces her demons

EastEnders revisits Stacey Fowler’s rape ordeal at the hands of Archie Mitchell next week, but when did he attack her and how did he die?

Archie was killed off on the soap as Stacey sought revenge for his attack on her, and it’s haunted her ever since.

Next week, Ruby Allen tries to help her friend face up to what happened all those years ago, as she faces her own rapists Matt and Ross in court.

Here’s all you need to know about what happened with Stacey and Archie…

Who was Archie and how did he die?

Archie Mitchell, the husband of Peggy Mitchell, was a villain on the show until he was killed off in 2009.

The character played by actor Larry Lamb was the father of Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell, while he was also having an affair with Janine Butcher.

He was murdered by Stacey Fowler, then known as Stacey Slater, after she hit him over the head with The Queen Vic’s Queen Victoria bust.

The scenes aired on Christmas Day as part of a whodunnit storyline, before a live episode revealed Stacey was the killer.

When was Stacey raped?

Stacey was attacked in harrowing scenes in 2009, which led to her murdering Archie later that year.

After threatening to expose Archie’s fling with Janine, claiming he “liked them young” with it also revealed he raped his own daughter Ronnie when she was 13, he assaulted her.

Stacey was struggling with her mental health at the time, following her bipolar diagnosis, with her family concerned for her.

But after Stacey issued a threat to Archie, he grabbed her before she was later seen rushing home and hiding away from her mother Jean.

While it was alluded something had happened to her, it was later on that she confirmed her ordeal after she fell pregnant, while it turned out Archie was not the father of daughter Lily.

What’s happened since then?

The plot has been referenced several times amid Ruby Allen’s rape storyline, and prior to this.

Stacey served a prison sentence for her crime, and has since tried to move on with her life.

What happened to Ruby Allen?

Ruby was raped after a night out, with Martin Fowler’s friends Ross and Matt targeting her before sleeping with her without her consent.

She had gotten drunk while partying with the two men and while she flirted and kissed both of them, she did not consent to sleeping with Matt.

It was later revealed that Ross had told Matt it was “his turn” with her while she was passing out, with text messages also proving Matt and Ross had planned their crime and may have even done it before.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm.
