The death of Eastenders' Karen Taylor has been 'confirmed' as it's revealed that the actress Lorraine Stanley is set to leave the show.

After seven years as the matriarch for the Taylor family, Karen will no longer feature in Albert Square as the actress leaves the role.

Bosses of the famous BBC soap opera have decided to write the character out of the show and it looks like her character could be coming to a tragic conclusion.

Karen has been a much loved member on the show but she has not been without her fair share of controversy and chaos.

One of her first acts was to punch Sharon Watts (played by Letitia Dean) in the face which set quite the precedent for her role in the future.

But she has not just caused havoc for the other characters as she has also made a lot of friends.

She has also been admired for her protective nature over her family as she is the true matriarch of the Taylor family.

Speculation has arisen over how exactly Karen will exit the show if the rest of her family are staying put in Albert Square.

EastEnders is no stranger to tragedy which has allowed speculation to rise that things could end in quite a final way for Karen.

For now, the storylines are being kept firmly under wraps so viewers do not get any spoilers but one certainty is that there are going to be some twists and turns to look out for before she goes.

But if Karen were to leave the show in the most dramatic fashion possible, it might leave some of the characters not knowing where to go from there.

With Karen's son Keanu (played by Danny Walters) constantly in chaos you would think that losing his mum could be the tipping point which sees him go over the edge.

While Bernie (played by Clair Norris) has just started a new job and is finally finding her feet with a new friendship group as well so Karen's sudden departure could see her thrust right into the emotional action.

But those are not the only characters that could find themselves in hot water after Karen's exit from the soap.

Mitch Baker (played by Roger Griffiths) could surely not take more tragedy after the sudden loss of his daughter Chantelle.

Karen's actor Lorraine is not the only star of the show to be departing soon as Shona McGarty is set to leave her iconic role of Whitney Dean which she has held for a huge 15 years.
