EastEnders is lining up a surprise new friendship for Ian Beale as he finds himself bonding with Jean Slater next week.
Ian (Adam Woodyatt) will turn to Jean for support at the end of a difficult week, which will see him finally start to accept that his hopes for a reconciliation with ex-wife Mel are well and truly doomed.
Viewers know that Ian has been desperate to rekindle his former romance with Mel ever since she returned to Walford – seemingly undeterred by her upcoming wedding to Ray.
Having been given renewed inspiration on how to win over Mel, Ian is left devastated when his latest attempts to woo her fall flat yet again.
Realising his plan is falling apart, Ian diverts his attention to getting revenge on Ray instead, but by the end of the week, his thoughts return to his late daughter Lucy.
With both Christmas and Lucy’s birthday looming, Ian finds himself opening up to a sympathetic Jean, but could this possibly be the start of something more?
