EastEnders’ Hayley Slater stunned when estranged mum, Bev played by Ashley McGuire, turns up in Walford

Harry Potter star Ashley McGuire will play Bev Slater, Hayley’s mum, the Sun’s Bizarre TV column can reveal.

It comes after Katie Jarvis’ character revealed she was pregnant to her family having kept it a secret.

A TV source said: “Audiences will see Bev arrive on the Square as a ghost from Hayley’s past – her mother.

“In her first episode viewers will get a glimpse of Bev striding through Walford but when Hayley spots her she can’t hide quickly enough.

“It soon becomes clear that there is no love lost between the mother and daughter but mystery surrounds why she has arrived and how she found out about Hayley’s pregnancy.

“But one thing’s for sure, she’ll be brash and gobby — just like every other Slater — and she’ll cause plenty of drama and heartache for the clan.”

Ashley has previously starred in other soaps including Casualty, The Bill and Coronation Street.

She even had a stint in Walford in 2004 when she starred in an episode as a character called Carol.

But the actress, who played a death eater in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movies, is probably best known for her role as Shakira on Channel 4 sitcom Man Down.

Hayley’s secret was revealed to the family when Jean, played by Gillian Wright, let the cat out the bag after hearing she wanted to leave the home.

Despite the Slaters jumping to a number conclusions over who the father is, fans will already know it is Alfie Moon is the father.

Scenes that aired in May showed Hayley visiting Shane Ritchie’s character in a hotel room where they confirmed they’d slept together.

It means more controversy on the Square as Alfie is Kat’s estranged husband.

They married on Christmas Day in 2003 when he brought a snow machine to fulfil her dream of a snowy wedding.
