EastEnders first look at ex-Brookside legend as dodgy Walford businessman

EastEnders have teased eager viewers with a first look at ex-Brookside legend Paul Usher as a dodgy businessman new on the scene in Walford.

Earlier this month it was revealed that the 57-year-old, who became a household name playing Barry Grant in Brookside, was set to star in the BBC soap for an explosive storyline involving the Mitchell family.

And EastEnders have teased a first look at him in his new role as Danny Hardcastle.

Danny will be making a short visit to Walford and will be making it his mission to deal with Phil Mitchell and some "unfinished business".

The official picture of Paul as Danny in Albert Square shows him glaring into the camera and wearing a Barbour jacket.

The soap’s official Instagram wrote: "Paul Usher arrives on Albert Square later in the spring as dodgy businessman Danny Hardcastle. He’ll spend his short visit to Walford dealing with Phil Mitchell and some unfinished business. #EastEnders."

Excited fans flocked to the comments, thrilled that the actor would be appearing in the soap.

One commented: "Amazing! He is epic! He should stay for longer."

Meanwhile a number of the actor’s other fans flooded the comments with references to his old character Barry in Brookside.

Paul became one of the most hated villains in soap history during his appearance in the Channel 4 soap from 1982 until 1995.

He was also known for playing Des Taviner in The Bill until 2004.
