DC's Swamp Thing casts Power star as the title superhero

DC Universe’s Swamp Thing has found its title character in actor Andy Bean.

With Aquaman‘s James Wan producing and Underworld‘s Len Wiseman slated to direct the pilot episode, the series is shaping up nicely and will join Doom Patrol on DC’s streaming service sometime next year.

While Derek Mears will don the lush, monstrous prosthetics for the swamp creature, Power star Andy has signed on to play doomed scientist Alec Holland (via TV Line).

2019 is set to be a thrilling year for the actor, who’s also playing the adult version of Stanley in the horror sequel It: Chapter Two. This raises the question: who would win in a brawl between Swamp Thing and Pennywise the Dancing Clown?

Just to get your metaphorical swamp bubbling, here’s Swamp Thing‘s official synopsis:

“When CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her.

“But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.”

Yep, we can’t wait either!

Swamp Thing will debut on DC’s streaming service in 2019.
